Our
business started out of the desire for me to stay home with
my daughter. I was working in the educational system as a sign
language interpreter. After her birth in 2002, I felt unwilling
to return to work, I wanted her to be by my side as much as
possible .
With the support of my husband, ChildOrganics was started. We
were interested in Attachment/Natural parenting and were passionate
about cloth diapering and Natural Childbirth. We also believe
strongly in living as naturally as possible and feel that this
includes making the choice for organic products when possible.
In
February of 2006 we added a new member of our family. This pregnancy
and birth was very much different than the natural, peaceful
pregnancy I had with my first daughter. Our sweet baby girl
was born through Cesarean and immediatly taken to the NICU.
She was born with Severe Hydrocephalus and Dandy Walker Malformation.
Her head was the size of a three month old at birth. She was
shunted on her second day out of the womb. She continued to
stay in the NICU for the next two months. The diagnoses continued
to grow. In addition to her original diagnosis, she also is
diagnosed with Bilateral Microphthalmia (blindness), Choanal
Atresia and GERD. She also had a feeding tube inserted before
we were able to take her home because of sucking and swallowing
issues. Our focus in life has changed a bit since her birth.
We have more doctors than I ever imagined. This has made natural
parenting more difficult but we are striving to do our best
for both of our daughters. You can learn more about our pregnancy,
birth and parenting through our blog at www.childorganics.blogspot.com.
Email us if any of these diagnosis effect you and your family.
We have a picture log of our sweet girls adventures in the NICU.
We are nestled in on Main Street, Strawberry Plains. We are
certified through the AAHCC to teach natural childbirth classes.
Now that we have experienced a medicalized birth and natural
birth we fell we have a unique viewpoint to share with other
parents. We teach at the Lisa Ross Center in the Knoxville,
TN area. We also provide information on breastfeeding and cloth
diapering.
